Playing God -- Chapter 1Dr. Tullen rubbed his eyes, determined to keep himself awake. It was late; he was the only one still at the lab. Stretching his neck and back a bit, he hunched over again to get another look through his high-powered microscope. He peered intently on the officially labeled, “Experiment 108,” a colony of bacteria that had been the first in its series to reproduce. Lifting his head again, Dr. Tullen recorded some more data in his notebook. The bacteria’s reproduction rate had grown another 10 percent. That was what he was investigating.
